Born in 1983 Silvia has always been a cocktail of cultures. Being raised by Croatian parents in Vienna (Austria) laid the foundations of her cosmopolitan diversity and curiosity.
Silvia soon recognized and developed her passion for ethnic fabrics, gloriously printed textiles and decorative styles within fashion and interior design. While studying International Business Administration Silvia instinctively followed her hobby and continuously combined business theory. Her professional experience includes working experience with several international fashion and publishing brands such as Rena Lange in Munich, Condè Nast in Milan, Diadema in Zagreb and India in Vienna. Further education in Fashion Design and Fashion Management followed at La Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti and Universitá Commerciale Luigi Bocconi in Milan. After graduating from university and two years in Zurich’s recruiting finance sector Silvia finally decided to dedicate herself to her passion by founding the online fashion destination www.silviagattin.com.
The concept behind www.silviagattin.com is to regularly change the country of inspiration, offer traditional designs that are reinterpreted into a western life style and cooperate with designers that share the same focus and spirit of celebrating the rare and unexpected by marrying old world traditions with new world design. In times of computerised mass production and “Made in China” products, Silvia firmly believes that it is important to highlight the imprint of the human hand and materials that are converted with strong confidence of every hand movement into breath-taking products. She deliberately seeks beautiful imperfections that can only be accomplished through “hand made” artisan products, as opposed to machine production.
Silvia’s intricate process is signature to the brand, creating every product individually by hand makes each design a timeless work of art. Every boot, every bag and each accessory are skillfully made with quality leathers, hand-woven or stitched fabrics and limited edition textiles sourced locally around the world. Silvia mainly works with small communities in Morocco, India, Thailand or Mexico – parts of the earth, so enormously full of love, tradition and simplicity.
Sustainability is core to each of Silvia’s product: she strives to support traditional hand-craft techniques and rare originals. The handmade process gives her furthermore the pleasure of personally working with local artisans and small factories, creating jobs and sustainable incomes each year, as well as to have an impact on the communities she works with.
We hope that our collection inspires you to wander, live and love in style. Create your own story, while staying connected to what truly matters.
